Everybody Welcome ....more details Village Events

The Hall Committee, in accepting the resignations, has assumed
temporary responsibility and, with the full support of the Kirby Cane
and Ellingham Parish Council -is unanimous in being committed to running
the Memorial Hall as per normal until replacement officers can be
appointed - at the Committee meeting - to be held on Thursday 15th March
2012, ( 7 .30 p.m.)

This meeting is a very important one for the future of the hall and - to
a large extent - the future of our villages social activities. In
addition to inviting nominations to the above offices of our Hall
Committee - we are making this meeting one that is open to the local
public. We have a nucleus of committed trustees / committee members -
but we are always seeking new recruits and new ideas. Why not come
along to the meeting and discover how you might help. You are assured of
a warm and enthusiastic welcome.

Kirby Cane Memorial Hall was built in 1922 - and given to Kirby Cane -
by the Crisp Family, to commemorate the men of Kirby Cane who gave their
lives in the Great War of 1914 - 1918.
Since then it has been in constant use as a much-used public and private
facility; in many ways - the hub of village social life.

Ninety Years on, (since the Memorial Hall's inauguration), we still
believe that it serves an essential role in village life - for all age
groups - hence our eagerness to keep it viable for the leisure and
formal activities of future generations of villagers and other
legitimate users.

2012 marks not only our Hall's ninetieth anniversary - but it also marks
the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. We are planning a Jubilee Fete / Children's
party to mark this historic occasion - and - to make it really special
for the children, and memorable for the village - we are hoping that as
many villagers as possible will want to rally round and become involved
in all aspects of the event.

If you have time to spare, special interests, particular skills, helpful
knowledge or new ideas - please come along on March 15th. and share them
with us. We are keen to meet you and discuss your thoughts. The future
of this wonderful village asset really is in all our hands, and
together, with cooperative goodwill - so much more can be achieved.

If you would like to know more - or if you have any suggestions or
offers of support to make in the meantime - please contact our Hall
Secretary - Sarah - on 01508 518098.

Thank you.
